Accessing the KillProof.me website

We log your full IP address and "user agent" together with the pages you access because that's standard for a web server. We don't do anything with it except generate aggregated statistics of website traffic from time to time.

The "user agent" is a bit of text sent by your browser which identifies it - for example "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.103 Safari/537.36". It simply offers version numbers of browsers that it is compatible with and isn't very unique to you.

The IP address is either the IP address your ISP has given you, or the IP address of a VPN or web proxy if you use one.

We use Matomo (like Google Analytics but hosted on our server) to monitor the number of visitors and generic information such as screen resolution and browser. This provides us with information we can use to try and ensure the website works as expected on the most common setups. Matomo does not collect any personally identifiable information from you apart from your IP address but this is anonymised by only storing the first part of the IP.

Checking someone's KillProof

In order to use this site to check the kill proof of another player, you don't need to give us anything except either their account name or KillProof id (otherwise how would we know who you want to lookup?)

Adding your own account

If you wish to provide others with your kill proof through this site, we will need a valid Guild Wars 2 API key for your account with the correct permissions. This gives us your Guild Wars 2 account name but not your email address.

With this API key, we will fetch certain raid statistics from your account and cache them locally in a database so we can provide your kill proof quickly when requested. At no time do we intentionally provide anyone else access to your API key - it would be considered a bug and should be reported to us immediately.

Some of the cached information is held indefinitely to provide features like the Weekly Clear History and Token counts. If you choose to delete your KillProof account, this information would be deleted as well.

If you choose to provide your email address (which is totally optional and can be removed at any time), we can use that to provide account recovery services via email instead of using a new temporary API key, and to offer two-factor authentication via email instead of authenticator application.

Supporting us through Patreon

If you are supporting us via Patreon, we will see your name and email address as provided by you to Patreon. They do not provide any additional personally identifiable information to us and we do not use this information for any purpose other than dealing with your support via Patreon. If we have any questions, we will use messaging within Patreon whenever possible.

Questions?

If you have any questions regarding the above, please get in touch and we will do our best to assist you.
